Biography

I was born on April 7, 1960 in Tanzania in Africa. I was born in Christian family. I went to school at Solusi University in Zimbabwe for BA in Theology. I was ordained as gospel minister in 2000. I have worked as pastor since 1991 until 2003 when I came to Andrews University at Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. I have worked as pastor at district level as well as at conference level. I did pasturing at Mbozi district- Mbeya Region and Temeke in Dar-Es-Salaam. At the conference level I worked as Publishing Director Education director, communication Director, Religious Liberty Director and Global Mission Coordinator. I like to conduct evangelist campaigns. I have done several evangelist campaigns in different parts of Tanzania and one in Kenya. When I was working as pastor my goal was to do at least two campaigns a year. I also like to conduct seminars and workshops among Christians and non-Christians.

Education

I joined Andrews University in 2003 at Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary whereby I did Masters in Divinity. After finishing the program decided to do a doctoral program in Leadership and Education Administration in School of Education at Andrews University. I decided to do doctorate in Education so that I can reach many young people as much as possible through wholistic and holistic education. I concur with one author who wrote that “in high sense the works of redemption and education are the same.”

I believe that Jesus was able to reach many people because of his ability of preaching and teaching. I have great desire of educating young people through Christian education. It is my feeling that it is difficult in many ways to reach people who do not believe in Christ except by means of education. I hope that we Tanzanians, we can do much better in reaching Muslim people easily through education than any other way. I would like to be practical on the statement that states that “to educate is to redeem.” Furthermore, as educator I believe that school is a moral community. It is a place where honesty, integrity, beauty, care, justice, truth, and courage can be emphasized to build good foundation of good citizen of any fraction.

I am married to Rudy Makimu and we have two kids Fadhili and Kundani who attend Ruth Murdoch Elementary School.

I am hoping to finish my class work next year and start writing dissertation. After finishing my education (2011) I will immediately go back home to sere people whom I think they will need and benefit with the education I get here.

God has blessed me a lot that I have reached many people through pastoral ministry. As self sponsored student since I joined Andrews University, God’s hand has been with me throughout my stay in U.S.A. It is not easy to be self sponsored nowadays in this country. God has blessed me for being in school with missing a single semester since I started school in 2003. However I owe the school about $10,000.00 and I need about $27,000.00 in order to finish my class work.

I am hereby to appeal to anybody who can be a God’s channel of blessing to make a donation for me for the cost of education. Any amount of contribution will be very much appreciated.
